Lesson Presentations
I found the presentations in our groups to be very beneficial. We definitely have some talented individuals in our class. I now have a small repetoire of ideas for fine arts and I know I can see the rest of the lessons on our class website. I wish we did this before we went out on practicum as I would have liked to try some of the lessons I have seen. I will definitely use some of these lessons during my long practicum.
A Day at the Art Gallery
I just realized I forgot to comment on the day at the Art Gallery. I always seem to enjoy myself when I go to the Gallery and I always tell myself I need to go there more often. I enjoyed the drawing activity with the music.I found it to be rather creative and expressive. It is definitely a lesson I could do with any grade level. The B.C Binning exhibit was interesting, but my favourite was Betty Kovacic: A Roomful of Missing Women. I found the exhibit to be very powerful with the portraits and music, but the cloaked women in the centre of the room really set the mood for me. We hear about these women in the news, but the true sadness of reality is evident when you physically see how many women have disappeared. I found the exhibit to be very moving as I thought "It could have been me"
Windows into Elementary Art
What a wonderful evening; a definite success. The transformation of the teaching and learning building allowed for an intimate setting without the feeling of being cramped. I wish we could have had more subdued lighting to really create a mood for the event. My favourite part of the evening was the expressions of the 'artists' when they saw their artwork displayed. It was also wonderful to see how excited the children got when they saw their teacher. It goes to show how in such a short time, we as teacher candidates were able to make and impression on our students. Well done everyone!
Everyone participated and contributed to the Art show in one way or another. We all worked together to make the evening a success. I feel silly writing this part of the blog, but here goes. I helped with the chairs and I wrote thank you cards to the faculty and staff at the university.

Guest Speaker
I enjoyed Virginia's presentation as she created an environment with open conversations and discussions. She seemed extremely knowedgable and passionate about the arts and implemented activities to soldify her focus for the lesson. It was a great experience and I would love for her to visit the class again.

Happy Halloween!
On Halloween, there were numerous art projects the students could choose from. This is one group of students making bats.
Dancing
My GIrls
These are only a few of the dancers I get to work with on a continuous basis. Being a dance instructor allows me to be as creative as I want to be and my students are able to take my ideas and turn them into reality. The relationship I have with my students is truly special, one I will cherish forever.
New York!
Dancing at Broadway Dance Center
This past July, I was fortunate to go to NYC on an educational Dance Trip. Not only did we watch numerous broadway shows, take dance classes (with MIA MICHEALS!), we also toured the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art. What an experience! I have memories I will never forget
